Howard Hall Productions specializes in marine wildlife natural history motion pictures. During the last 35 years our company has produced numerous exhibit films, broadcast television documentaries, and IMAX theatrical features. Howard Hall Productions maintains a stock footage library that includes marine wildlife, aerials, and time lapse from all around the world in formats including HD, 4K, 5K, and 8K.

Recent Films

Secrets of the Sea

Secrets of the Sea  was released in August 2022.  The film is now open in numerous IMAX theaters in the United States and many other theaters around the world.  Secrets of the Sea is a co-production between Howard Hall Productions and Oceanic Research Group.  The film was produced by Michele Hall and co-directed by Howard Hall and Jonathan Bird.  It is being distributed by MacGillivray Freeman Films.  In 2023, Secrets of the Sea was named Best Picture by the Giant Screen Cinema Association.

Soul of the Ocean

At 78 minutes, Soul of the Ocean is the first feature-length film from Howard Hall Productions. The film received 3 nominations at the 2021 Jackson Wild Film Festival including nominations for Best Feature, Best Cinematography, and winning the award for Best Animal Behavior.  In June 2022 Soul of the Ocean won Best Cinematography at the Blue Water Film Festival and was honored with the Director’s Award at the 2022 International Ocean Film Festival.  The film has been versioned as an episode of the PBS Series Nature, was broadcast in January 2023, and was later nominated for an Emmy Award.   Soul of the Ocean is being distributed worldwide by Terra Mater.

Footage Library

Howard Hall Productions manages a stock footage library comprised of more than 35,000 clips of marine wildlife, aerial, and time lapse subjects.  Our images were captured primarily in RED 4K, 5K and 8K resolutions.  Time lapse footage was captured as digital image sequences in up to 8K resolution.  The library includes images from around the world including California, British Columbia, Alaska, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, Indonesia, Gulf of Mexico, and many tropical Pacific locations.
